Barriere Relaunches Culture of CLAIRE

Barriere-CLAIRE

On March 2 Barriere relaunched a part of its Total Process Reliability program that we call CLAIRE – Cleaning, Lubricating, Assessing, Inspecting, Repairing, Evaluating – taking us to the next level when it comes to being masters of our own fleet.

Barriere recieved the 2021 Association of Equipment Management Professionals Fleet Master Award in the Large Fleet category.

Our Culture of Care applies to everything we do, and this is reflected in the programs we invest in to support and engage our talent with continuous improvement as individuals and as a company. CLAIRE is an example of this when it comes to caring for the equipment we use to safely and reliably deliver quality projects and products to our customers.

CLAIRE connects Barriere crews with the knowledge, skills, and practice required to masterfully take care of heavy equipment, typically machines that they use on the projects they are working on together. CLAIRE events provide such opportunities in the form of a three-day team building exercise centered around applying CLAIRE to a specific piece of equipment.

Group application of CLAIRE fosters comradery and instills ownership in our shared equipment. It starts with an initial inspection to assess the equipment condition and develop an approach for care. The equipment is then both pressure- and hand-washed to make sure the group is working with a surface clear of dirt and grease during repairs and painting that occur after the deep clean.

Once complete, the group formally presents their work to select Barriere upper management, Project Managers, Superintendents, and members of both the Safety and Equipment teams, building widespread internal familiarity with our fleet.

At Barriere, being top performing fleet masters is a source of pride for us all!
