At the close of 2021, Barriere President/CEO Peter Wilson will be retiring from the company that his family has led for over 70 years. The retirement of the Barriere family’s remaining third-generation Wilson family executive has already set off a series of promotions, and Peter will pass the baton to current VP, Asphalt Operations Jason Latiolais as we enter a new era of leadership in 2022.
Barriere’s goal is to attract, retain, develop, and promote top industry talent.
Effective January 1, 2022, Jason, who recently began his 14th year with the company, will step into the role that awaits him. He has already been leading all three Barriere asphalt groups and was North Shore Asphalt Group Manager prior to being promoted to his current position. He holds a MBA from Southeastern University and is a civil engineer who managed the award-winning French Branch Project, which, at the time, was Barriere’s largest project ever. Jason was a natural choice for President/CEO during succession planning that has been ongoing since before Barriere became a CRH company at the end of 2020.
Peter has put in 42 years of service at Barriere, and the company represents his roots. He started out as an Estimator in 1978, one year after the passing of his father and former Barriere President George H. Wilson Sr. who built the company with his own father Gaines. Peter’s mother Betty A. Wilson stepped in to lead Barriere while he and his brothers George Jr. and Bert helped build the company and eventually took over executive leadership. Peter worked with all three of his sons and some of his nieces and nephews at various points during his career, and became President/CEO in January 2016.
