Barriere is proud to announce that Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has certified our company as an Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) for the fifth year in a row. Honored to be among the elite group of construction contractors recognized with this hard-earned distinction, Barriere leadership credits our company’s enduring dedication to operational excellence for this recertification.
“Accredited Quality Contractors exemplify top-performing contractors by setting the standard in the contracting community for safety, culture, workforce development, innovation, diversity and quality,” said Michael Bellaman, ABC president and CEO. “Every day, the leaders and employees of Barriere commit to the highest level of corporate and community achievement, embodying the best of ABC’s membership. Congratulations to these outstanding construction companies.”
Founded in 1950, ABC launched its AQC program 30 years ago as a way to recognize world-class construction firms demonstrating commitment in five areas:
- Quality
- Safety performance
- Talent management, including inclusion, diversity and equity
- Craft and management education
- Community relations
Having long met the requirements of ABC’s AQC national certification program, Barriere officially engaged with the program five years ago. And since 2019, we have ranked in the top 75 AQC construction contractors.
“We hold ourselves to a very high standard at Barriere,” said Jason Latiolais, Barriere’s President/CEO. “In addition to our steadfast commitment to providing our clients with the highest quality construction services, we consistently achieve our internal goals for safety and efficiency. And being recognized as an Accredited Quality Contractor by ABC is confirmation that the work we do is meeting and exceeding expectations.”
Barriere’s Culture of Care philosophy aligns perfectly with the AQC member pledge we take each time we are reaccredited: As an Accredited Quality Contractor, our company is committed to providing our clients with the highest quality construction services, and we care deeply about our employees and the communities in which we build. We are proud to be part of the construction industry and are dedicated to the principles of free enterprise. We commit ourselves to serve our communities and provide our employees with the skills they need to work safely and productively in order to meet the needs of our clients.
In becoming an AQC, each member company commits to world-class safety by achieving the Gold, Platinum or Diamond level in ABC’s STEP Safety Management System. Founded more than three decades ago, STEP dramatically improves safety performance among construction industry participants, with top performers achieving incident rates more than six times safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry average.
The AQC is a prestigious credential recognized by Construction Users Roundtable, a national organization for leading construction project owners, which regularly recognizes Barriere for excellence in safety.
