For the 11th consecutive year, Barriere has achieved Diamond status – the highest level of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) program. This year, Barriere was awarded Diamond status for both the Bayou and Pelican Chapters of ABC.
Founded more than three decades ago, STEP is a proven system that provides the framework to measure, strengthen and build industry-leading safety programs that enable top-performing ABC members to achieve incident rates nearly seven times safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics construction industry average. By consistently achieving STEP Diamond status, Barriere is 688% safer than the industry average for reported incident rates.
“Systems like STEP enable ABC member contractors like Barriere to have safer and more productive jobsites,” said Greg Sizemore, ABC Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment and Workforce Development. “Committing to total human health is essential to ensure the physical and mental health and safety of our workforce, and I commend Barriere for consistently fulfilling those commitments to raise the bar of safety performance.”
Barriere’s first and foremost responsibility is to protect our employees and the public. We operate by the rule that safety is something that cannot be delegated. Therefore, working the STEP program is an integral part of our commitment to an ongoing, comprehensive safety program.
As a result, Barriere has continuously earned ABC’s National Safety Excellence Award, Accredited Quality Contractor certification, and a place on the National Top Performer list.
These awards and recognitions are a testament to our laser focus on our primary, underlying goal: preserving and promoting the safety and well-being of our Barriere team members and the community.
Congratulations to the entire Barriere team for your commitment to safety and for doing your part to help us to achieve Diamond status once again!
