Barriere was recently recognized with a Construction Safety Excellence Award (CSEA) by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) at their annual convention, held earlier this year in Grapevine, TX. Barriere placed 3rd in the Highway and Transportation division for over 800,000-man hours.

Each year, AGC brings together experts from across the industry to share their knowledge and expertise to help prepare contractors to meet current and future challenges to the industry. In its 23rd year, the CSEA recognizes construction companies who excel at safety performance. To be eligible, a company must meet the OSHA recordable requirement for three consecutive years, submit their best practices and procedures, and show what sets them apart from competitors in the industry. Candidates must also exhibit company management commitment, active employee participation, safety training, work site hazard identification and control, and safety program innovation.
As part of the competition process, Les Mays (Safety Manager) and Ricky Quigley (Asphalt Operations Manager) presented to a panel of judges on Barriere’s core values and safety practices, including employee empowerment, team planning, data driven programs and “The 6” which focuses on reducing significant injuries and fatalities.
