Culture of Care Spotlight: Barriere Annual Picnic Resumes After Two-Year Hiatus

On April 9, Barriere’s 33rd Annual Safety and Health Picnic took place at the City Park Festival Grounds in New Orleans. The company picnic – a core part of Barriere’s Culture of Care programming – was last held in 2019, and this is the first time the event has gone on since Barriere joined the CRH family of companies. The picnic theme this year – See. Stop. Do. – is a simplification of the Safety Pledge Barriere adopted from CRH last year: When I see something, I will stop and do something. This pledge reinforces and enhances the established and always improving programs that acknowledge and empower those who are closest to risk – something that is critical to achieving our goal of zero incidents so we can all go home safely to our loved ones every day.

The overall wellbeing of Barriere’s employees and their families is our top priority.

At Barriere, we want our employees and their families to thrive, and that’s what the annual picnic is about – demonstrating our priorities, upholding our values, celebrating each other, and having some fun! In addition to a presentation by members of the Executive Committee, employees and their families enjoyed multiple food trucks, live music from the Phunky Monkeys a golf driving range, and a Kids Fun Zone with carnival games and concessions, inflatables, and face painting amongst other activities.

Barriere’s goal is to attract, develop, and promote top industry talent.

The Executive Committee presentation was emceed by Asphalt Plants and Materials Manager Kevin Ervin and the rest of the Committee members, including five recent additions, took turns hosting the hour-long programming that preceded lunch. Highlights involved:
