Barriere Wins Award for Rail Yard Expansion at One of Largest Manufacturing Facilities in Louisiana
Barriere was recently notified that its St. Charles Parish Rail Yard Expansion Project is a winner in the Associated Builders and Contractors Pelican Chapter 2020 Excellence in Construction awards program General Contractor > Special Projects > $2 to $100 million category. The awards program judges noted the “powerful application” featured an “excellent project that overcame many obstacles to work toward successful project delivery.”
We are proud of our team and this Project.
The $11.6M Project involved construction of a rail yard for storage and maintenance of the Client’s rail cars on Port of South Louisiana land adjacent to the Client’s St. Charles Parish plant, one of the largest manufacturing facilities in Louisiana. In 250 days, despite the ongoing challenges of a high water table and a single access point, Barriere installed:
- A 2K SQ YD pile-supported, two-track concrete facility,
- Six new tracks totaling 27K LF, and
- A 1.25-mile access road.
The Project’s win qualifies it for the ABC National’s EIC program, and Barriere has already registered its intent to submit by November 20, 2020.
Wish us luck, and spread the word: Barriere excels at Ports and Rail!
