Barriere Honored by New NAPA Scholarship Program

One of the ways Barriere upholds the value of continuous improvement is through its encouragement of continued education. We have supported the academic advancement of 26 members of the Barriere family through the Betty A. Wilson Education and Safety Scholarship Program and the George H. Wilson Scholarship Fund contributes to at least one LSU Asphalt Technology Scholarship every year. Both programs are going strong, and our Culture of Care has recently expanded its reach through the new National Asphalt Pavement Association Acott/Wilson Scholarship program.

In its first year, the NAPA Acott/Wilson Scholarship was established through the NAPA Research and Education Foundation to acknowledge the industry accomplishments of the Wilson family and former NAPA President Michael Acott. The program was initiated and is funded by Bob and Ellen Thompson, who are connected to the Wilsons and Barriere through Mr. Thompson’s service to the company as a former Board Director, and is administered through the Louisiana Asphalt Pavement Association.

1. George Sr. as NAPA President. 2. Former NAPA President Michael Acott. 3. Current Barriere President/CEO Peter as 2003 NAPA Chair.

The application deadline for the first NAPA Acott/Wilson Scholarship is coming up. If you or someone you know is looking to pursue an education in the infrastructure construction industry, this readily shareable information is for you!
