Barriere Nationally Recognized for Local Community Partnership

Barriere Recognized for Community Partnership Award Winners 2021

Prior to 2020, the Barriere family collectively donated approximately 3,000 pounds of food and $14K to Second Harvest Food Bank through six annual company food drives and two food distributions carried out through a partnership with the non-profit and St. John the Baptist Parish. In 2019, our Construction Group began basing out of the Parish and using its management expertise to coordinate and implement the food distributions, helping curb community hunger while on the clock.

In 2020, this community partnership put Barriere in a position to directly meet increased hunger in the Parish where Second Harvest, the largest charitable anti-hunger network in Louisiana, was operating at 20%. On May 15, 2020, our third food distribution safely provided nutritious shelf-stable meals to 450 families pre-registered through the Parish – twice the amount of families served at previous distributions. At Barriere’s invitation, Entergy joined the partnership to support two more similar-sized food distributions on June 12 and August 7. By the end of the summer, Barriere alone had contributed 200+ volunteer hours and $40K to purchase the equivalent of 24K meals for families in need.
