Today Barriere begins its annual Safety and Total Process Review Training at our dedicated Boutte Training Center. The theme this year – See. Stop. Do. It’s Up to You! – is something that our workforce is already owning, and, this week and next, they will participate in enriching activities that reinforce our commitments to safety, quality, and production.
Barriere aims to attract, develop, and promote top industry talent.
Safety First is one of Barriere’s Core Values, and we are on a mutual Journey to Zero recordable incidents. Last year, it was easy for us all to adopt our new parent company’s safety motto by taking the pledge – When I SEE something, I will STOP and DO something – because it directly aligns with our own established safety initiatives. Each of Barriere’s 430 employees knows that they are responsible for managing our collective risk and are supported in doing so culturally and specifically.
The wellbeing of our employees is our top priority.
Trust and Respect is another Barriere Core Value. We actively integrate employee input into company-wide systems to ensure our people are maximally empowered in applying their expert intuition, and we are dedicated to rewarding them for their efforts.
Half way through 2021, we overhauled our Key Performance Indicator Program that was the basis for hourly employee bonuses. The goal of our new Safety KPI Program is to more directly compensate those closest to risk for actively participating in critical aspects of our comprehensive safety program – it has literally paid off!
Barriere consistently delivers through excellence in action.
In 2021, 80% of Barriere’s hourly workforce received bonuses through the new Program, and, together, we achieved the lowest recordable incident rate in our 72-year company history. This performance is a prime example of how we consistently do what we say we are going to do. This is the Barriere Way!
