NAPA Recognizes Barriere with Two 2024 Quality in Construction Awards

Earlier this month, The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) awarded Barriere two 2024 Quality in Construction (QIC) Awards for excellence in construction of asphalt pavement. The awards were presented at a ceremony during NAPA’s 70th Annual Meeting on February 3, 2025, at the Grand Wailea Maui in Hawaii.

“The asphalt pavement industry is committed to building high-quality projects that deliver superior performance to the traveling public. All contractors’ projects earning a Quality in Construction award are measured against best practices designed to live up to that commitment,” said 2024 NAPA Chair Brady Meldrem. “Earning the Quality in Construction Award demonstrates that Barriere has met or exceeded these rigorous standards.”

Barriere won one of the QIC awards for producing a smooth, high-quality asphalt road on eight miles of LA 40 from LA 25 to LA 1129 in St. Tammany Parish. After milling the road, Barriere crews installed an asphalt overlay and new culverts and concrete-paved ditches which significantly improved the road’s drainage. Barriere incorporated into the project mixes reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), a sustainable paving practice that conserves natural resources, cuts emissions, reduces landfill waste and improves pavement longevity.

Barriere also incorporated RAP into the asphalt mixes for its other QIC award-winning asphalt work on US 61 from LA 74 to LA 42 in Ascension Parish. For this project, crews patched the road, milled it and then placed an asphalt overlay on it. In 370 working days, Barriere successfully produced an improved smooth, high-quality asphalt road for area motorists.

Barriere is proud to receive these awards on behalf of its hard-working crews. Congratulations to the entire Barriere team for consistently demonstrating operational excellence and safety as we continue to deliver the kind of top-tier results our valued clients have come to expect.
