The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) has awarded Barriere with nine Diamond Commendations for its three asphalt plants. This is the 10th consecutive year Barriere has received commendations from NAPA. 

Recognizing companies for implementing best practices proven to improve quality, safety and excellence, NAPA’s Diamond Commendation Program is a nationally recognized and respected program that covers asphalt plant operations, terminal operations, asphalt production and paving. With categories including quality control, work practices, equipment operations and training, the program’s self-assessment process enables companies to benchmark their operations against a national standard, identify areas for improvement and earn national recognition for their commitment to quality.

Barriere’s three plants – Baton Rouge, North Shore in Franklinton and South Shore in Boutte – each earned all three of the commendations detailed below.

• The Diamond Paving Commendation recognizes paving crews who utilize best practices and excel in areas including compliance and training of supervisors and crew members.
• The Diamond Quality Commendation is awarded based on the quality of materials produced and covers quality management, RAP and aggregate handling, asphalt storage, drying and mixing, air quality, truck scales, silos and control rooms.
• The Diamond Achievement with Sustainable Commendation covers operations in and around the plant. Aspects addressed include appearance, operations, environmental practices, safety, regulatory compliance and community relations.

A NAPA Diamond Commendation is widely considered to be a mark of distinction reserved only for companies that demonstrate dedication to responsible operational practices and high-quality products through continuous improvement.
