Barriere is proud to participate in the fourth annual Construction Inclusion Week (CIW). Observed October 14 to 18, CIW unites an expansive network of industry professionals around a shared commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) within the built environment. It’s for contractors, suppliers, architects, engineers, owners and technology firms. The idea is that, by working together, we can cultivate welcoming teams and help make careers in the industry more inviting.
It’s easy to understand why inclusion is important. Everyone wants to feel like they belong, especially at work. We all want to be on a team where every member’s unique skills are valued. Construction Inclusion Week is about creating safe spaces to have conversations around, and to learn about, issues related to belonging, workplace culture and inclusion.
More than just raising awareness around DEI, Construction Inclusion Week provides practical content and actionable resources to advance inclusion. The five-day curriculum is designed to empower companies to create an inclusive culture that drives innovation and success.
The CIW curriculum explores a variety of topics to help companies learn how to….
• Foster more collaborative and inclusive teams.
• Establish and maintain a positive workplace culture where everyone can excel.
• Increase supplier diversity.
• Explore and understand the implications of unconscious bias.
• Create and implement inclusive training programs.
• Build a diverse talent pipeline to tackle any challenge.
• Develop inclusive practices that enhance teamwork.
People from all backgrounds are welcome at Barriere. And creating a positive, inclusive environment where our people can thrive is a cornerstone of our Culture of Care. It’s also good for business; diversity of thought leads to better ideas, innovation and sustainable solutions.
At Barriere, our people are our priority. We want everyone on the Barriere team to be empowered and informed. So, we invite you to explore the content at constructioninclusionweek.com, on your own or with your co-workers. Talk about what you learn. Ask questions; share insights. These are the kinds of conversations that will help us learn and grow as a team.
We are stronger together.
