Our Contribution to the Community

Take a look at how Barriere Construction is committed to the communities of Louisiana and the Gulf South.

At Barriere Construction, we celebrate our legacy of safety, quality, and lasting relationships. Inspired by 70 years of service, we continue to dedicate ourselves to the community through civic investments, charitable giving, and as vehicles for the sustained growth of Southeastern Louisiana and the Gulf South region.

We are a family company, committed to our employees and the communities where we live and work. From helping underprivileged families celebrate a brighter Christmas, to contributing to the United Way, to coordinating the voluntary construction of a Habitat for Humanity house, Barriere people remain committed to serving those in need.

In addition to our corporate philosophy of working harder for our clients and providing the best possible environment for our employees, we believe in fulfilling our role as a corporate citizen. Our community involvement and engagement are manifested both in financial support and active participation by company management and our employees.

Lifting Up Those in Need, Rebuilding Neighborhoods Following Disasters

Each year at our Annual Safety and Health Picnic, we host a food drive benefitting Second Harvest Food Bank, giving our employees an opportunity to donate non-perishable food items and contributing to the communities in which we live and work. Since we started our food drive with Second Harvest in 2014, Barriere employees have donated nearly 3,000 pounds of food and over $14,000 with the accompanying fundraiser.

Following the 2016 devastating flooding in the Baton Rouge and Lafayette areas, Barriere owners and employees put our culture of commitment and service to work directly in places our employees, customers, vendors, and partners called home. In response to this tragedy, Barriere implemented a comprehensive plan to help employees who lost their homes, cars, and belongings, and to help speed their recovery and return to normalcy.

Through a partnership with the Baton Rouge Area Foundation (BRAF), Barriere created an Employee Assistance Fund which awarded grants to full-time employees and retirees in-need. Barriere also opened donations to all employees and vendors, who were looking to give back and make their own mark on the rebuilding process.

Charitable Giving Throughout Our Organization

We have been a donor to United Way for many years and are consistently in the top 60 givers in the entire state of Louisiana. Also, we encourage and allow our employees to participate by donating to the United Way through payroll deductions.

For the past 5 years, Barriere has participated in the YMCA Corporate Cup Second Line for Literacy, encouraging employee involvement in not only the need to improve adult literacy within our community, but also in the health and wellness that the 5k promotes.

Every summer our internship program participates in two volunteer days with Habitat for Humanity to facilitate team building while giving back to the community in which we live and work.

The Barriere Way is the value proposition that differentiates us as a contractor, employer, and corporate citizen, demonstrating that we are stronger together and focused on our goal of being the best contractor to better serve communities and customers. These initiatives speak to our commitment to our communities throughout Louisiana and the Gulf South.
