Barriere Construction has been recognized by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) with two 2025 Quality in Construction (QIC) Awards for excellence in asphalt pavement construction. The awards were announced in conjunction with NAPA’s 71st Annual Meeting, where industry leaders gathered to celebrate best-in-class projects from across the country.
“The asphalt pavement industry is resolute in its dedication to delivering projects of exceptional quality and performance for the traveling public,” said 2025 NAPA Chairman Pat Nelson. “Each project honored with a Quality in Construction Award is rigorously evaluated against the highest industry standards, reflecting an unwavering commitment to excellence.”
The first of Barriere’s QIC awards recognizes its work on LA 424 from Johnny Martin Road to LA 62 in Washington Parish. The roadway reconstruction project included removing and replacing cross drains, stabilizing the roadbed with soil cement and placing 3.5 inches of asphalt. Despite the project’s challenges, including numerous curves along a relatively short stretch of roadway, Barriere crews delivered a smooth, high-quality finished pavement. The asphalt mixes incorporated reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), supporting sustainable construction practices that conserve natural resources, reduce emissions, limit landfill waste and enhance pavement longevity.
Barriere also earned a QIC award for its work on U.S. Highway 90 in Luling, Louisiana. To minimize traffic disruptions along the busy 4.2-mile divided, four-lane roadway, crews completed much of the work at night. The project scope included milling the existing pavement, performing necessary patching, placing an asphalt overlay, installing loop detectors and completing striping and related improvements. Approximately 75% of the existing pavement was reclaimed for future reuse, and RAP was incorporated into the asphalt mixes, resulting in a smooth pavement surface with exceptional ride quality.
These national awards shine a spotlight on the exceptional work of Barriere’s crews, whose commitment and expertise make high-performing projects possible. We are honored to see our team’s efforts recognized as we continue improving roadways throughout Louisiana.
