Barriere Announces Start of Second Leadman Training Program

Our commitment to innovation and technology is at the forefront of what we do each day, and we are investing in our team by providing the skills and knowledge to enhance their crafts and enable them to safely deliver superior construction solutions for our clients. It’s the Barriere Way.

Earlier this year, Barriere successfully conducted its inaugural Leadman Training Program. It was the first of its kind for our company. Now, a second cohort is beginning their journey through the intensive 45-hour, 6-month course.

As part of the program, participants will complete online modules, perform on-the-job tasks and participate in classroom training, all designed to meet eight Barriere on-the-job training core competencies.

The online program will cover company-wide safety policies, the importance of customer safety rules and Barriere’s “The Six” to reduce significant injuries and fatalities. Participants will learn about responsibilities at the craftsman, operator and leadership levels and will also explore career path options available for asphalt field employees.

Classroom training sessions will focus on administration, communication, crew management, leadership, operations, trenching and working in confined spaces. Additional training topics may include OSHA 10, traffic control systems and rigging. The program will culminate with a team building exercise.

Program participants, nominated by their direct supervisors, are reliable, safety-minded team players who demonstrate strong leadership skills. The general superintendent of each group reviews their group’s nomination forms, and a limited number of employees per group are selected to participate in the program.
