Barriere is proud to announce that we have once again been certified as an Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for the fourth consecutive year. This recertification is the result of Barriere’s dedication to operational excellence, and we are honored to be among the elite group of construction contractors recognized with this prestigious credential.
Barriere has long met the requirements of the AQC national certification program that ABC launched in 1993. Four years ago, we officially engaged with the program. Only 450 of the nation’s elite merit shop construction contractors earned the credential in 2021. Since 2019, Barriere has consistently ranked in the top 75.
ABC’s AQC program provides recognition to world-class construction firms that demonstrate their commitment in five areas:
- Quality
- Safety performance
- Talent management, inclusion, diversity and equity
- Craft and management education
- Community relations

In earning the AQC credential, each member company is ranked for world-class safety by achieving Gold, Platinum or Diamond level in ABC’s Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) management system. Barriere consistently achieves STEP Diamond status, the highest level of ABC’s STEP program.
AQC is recognized by Construction Users Roundtable, a national organization for leading construction project owners, which regularly recognizes Barriere for excellence in safety.
