Barriere commenced its 2026 summer internship program on Tuesday, May 26, with orientation at the Boutte Training Center. The day brought together students from several universities for an introduction to the people, work and values that shape Barriere. Students met company leaders, learned more about CRH and Americas Materials, and got a closer look at how safety, teamwork, performance and innovation guide our business every day.

This year’s orientation also gave participants a practical view of the asphalt and construction industry. Sessions covered topics such as how projects are funded, bid, built, tracked and paid for, along with the basics behind field operations, estimating, logistics, finance, aggregates, safety and construction management. Interns then learned what to expect throughout the summer, including team updates, bi-weekly check-ins, a midsummer learning event, community service opportunities and a final project presentation.

The 2026 intern class represents students from across Louisiana and Alabama. Areas of study include safety, civil engineering, engineering technology, industrial technology, and finance. Throughout the summer, each student will work alongside an assigned manager and department team, gaining real-world experience while contributing to active projects and business operations.

Barriere is thrilled to welcome this year’s interns, and we look forward to helping them build skills, ask questions, make connections and explore career paths in the construction materials industry.
