At Barriere, we reward employees who actively engage in best practices and programs that support consistently carrying out our commitments to the highest standards. During the close of our company-wide annual Training Week this month, we were able to do just that by announcing our 2021 Employee of the Year winners and presenting them with associated cash prizes.
Employees of the Year exemplify the Barriere Way by upholding our Core Values and allowing our Value Propositions – Partnership, Professionalism, and Operational Excellence – to guide their implementation of the B Guarantee.
Barriere’s Employee of the Year Program is fairly new to the company. Each month, every Group and Plant has the option of selecting an Employee of the Month who receives a cash prize. Employees of the Year are selected from the Employee of the Month Program winners and receive an additional cash reward, a recognition plaque, and various useful Barriere-branded items.
The North Shore Asphalt Group selected an Employee of the Year in 2019, and the rest of the Groups first engaged with the program in 2020. This past year is the first year the three plants – Baton Rouge, North Shore, and South Shore – put forth an Employee of the Year too.

Sean’s confidence and competence ensure he is always busy doing meaningful work. He is a preventative problem solver whose expertise results in high quality, efficient production of materials that Barriere contributes to critical Gulf South infrastructure projects.
Barriere Construction Group: Timothy Nester, Pipefitter
Timothy positively influenced the culture at Barriere’s award-winning IMTT St. Rose Project through relationships with the client, his supervisors, and his colleagues. His ability to grow effective partnerships at various levels matches the company’s ideals.
North Shore Asphalt Group: Anthony Tate, Light Operator
Anthony’s professionalism stands out through the way he is always putting safety first and effectively communicating. These values and priorities are reflected in his performance and make him a model leader.
South Shore Asphalt Group: Alcide Sansom, Operator III
Alcide took on running and maintaining both tack and service trucks while effectively executing his roller operation duties and proactively site prepping for the crew each day. His operational excellence is an asset to whatever project he takes on.
