EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Chairman

George is Chairman of the Board of Barriere Construction. He graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans in 1975 and received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Tulane in 1986. George is a past President of the New Orleans District of the Louisiana Associated General Contractors (AGC) and is currently an executive committee member of the Business Council of New Orleans and the River Region. George is also a board member of the New Orleans Startup Fund and Chair of the Board of the YMCA of Greater New Orleans.

President and CEO

Peter became President and CEO of the Company in January 2016. Peter is a graduate of Louisiana State University and attended the Families in Business Program at Harvard University. After joining Barriere as an Estimator in 1978, he was promoted to North Shore Asphalt Project and Group Manager before being named President of the Group. Peter has served as President of the Louisiana Asphalt Pavement Association (LAPA). In 2003, he served as Chairman of the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA).

President of Asphalt and Materials Operations

Bert attended Louisiana State University and began his career with Barriere in 1979. Prior to his appointment as President of Asphalt and Materials Operations, Bert served as President of Barriere’s South Shore operations. He has served as President of the Louisiana Asphalt Paving Association (LAPA) and currently remains on their Board. He is a past President of the Associated Builders and Contractors’ Bayou Chapter (ABC) and the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors. Bert is currently President of the Jefferson Business Council.

Vice-President, Asphalt Operations

Jim joined Barriere in 1983 as a laborer and equipment operator before leaving the company to pursue a successful career in the music industry. Jim returned to Barriere in 2002 to work in aggregate sales in South Shore Asphalt.  He became the North Shore Asphalt Group Manager prior to becoming Vice-President of Asphalt Operations.  Jim served for three years as a board member of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Bayou Chapter, and currently serves on the Franklinton, La. Economic Development Foundation.

Vice President, Business Development

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, David earned a J.D. degree from Loyola University School of Law. David is credited with developing much of Barriere’s private market segment, as well as leading its entry into the petrochemical industry. In his current role, David is in charge of directing all marketing activities associated with Business Development while implementing growth across Barriere’s range of heavy civil and paving construction services. David is actively involved in numerous trade organizations, and he is a past president of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Bayou chapter, and currently serves as president of the Metropolitan New Orleans Branch of the American Public Works Association (APWA).

Vice President, Chief Estimator

Douglas G. Olson currently serves as Barriere’s Chief Estimator and leads a team of estimators that seek out public and private civil, infrastructure, highway, and drainage projects. With more than 20 years of experience as a Project Manager, Chief Estimator, and Group Manager at Barriere, Doug leads the Company’s pursuit of design-build, best value, and joint venture projects. Doug holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Tulane University.

Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer

Heath joined Barriere in 2002 as Assistant Controller and served as Financial Controller before assuming his current position. A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, he holds a degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Professional Accountancy. He has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 2000, and, in 2006, he earned the designation of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP). Heath is a member of the Southeast Louisiana Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), where he has served as President, Secretary, and a member of the Board of Directors.

Director of Administration and Employee Development

Chris joined Barriere in 2011 as a Project Analyst and currently serves Barriere as Director of Administration and Employee Development helping to oversee many of Barriere’s administrative functions, including Human Resources, Benefits and Wellness, Workforce Development and Marketing. Chris also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Georgia and earned his Master’s Degree from Tulane in Business Administration. Chris is active in the Tulane Association of Business Alumni and on the Workforce Development Steering Committee of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

Vice-President, Construction Operations

Matthew joined Barriere in 1998 as a Project Manager after earning a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology. Prior to becoming Vice-President of Construction, he served as Barriere’s South Shore Asphalt Group Manager. Matthew also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of New Orleans and is an active member in many construction trade associations including a past board member of the Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC) Bayou chapter. He participated in the National Asphalt Paving Association (NAPA) Young Leaders Conference, and Matt now actively participates in Louisiana Associated General Contractors (AGC).
