BATON ROUGE ASPHALT GROUP – BATON ROUGE
CRAFTSMAN
Description – Duties include but are not limited to preparing utility pipe for crew, cutting materials, hauling materials, hand grading, checking string lines, housekeeping at job site, checking safety protocol, laying out job materials according to plan, beginning of day set-up and end of day clean-up, etc.  Physical requirements – Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions, such as cold, heat and humidity. The maximum unassisted lift requirement for Barriere employees is 51 pounds for all physical job descriptions.  Must observe all safety protocol. Equipment Requirements – Able to work with a wheelbarrow, wacker, hand tools, or any other small piece of equipment used to move concrete and pipe. Experience/Skills Required – Must have a minimum of 1 yr. experience in the road or construction field, Underground utility work, working outdoors in extreme weather conditions, and be able to read and understand simple directions, must be able to read a tape measure, as well as perform simple mathematical equations.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
Duties include operating a variety of equipment including Motor graders, excavators, front end loaders, rubbertire backhoes, and dozers; performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment; performing other duties on the jobsite when not operating equipment; and following all safety protocol.  Physical Requirements – Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, individually lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs., push and pull weights up to 70 lbs., and observe all safety protocol. Experience/Skills Required – Must have minimum of 1 yr. experience in the road or construction field, working outdoors in extreme weather, be able to read, understand and write simple sentences, and perform simple mathematical equations. Equipment Requirements – Must have a minimum of 1 yr. experience in operating and maintaining Asphalt paver or MTV and at least three or more pieces of asphalt equipment, such as: paver screed, motor grader, front end loader, rubbetire backhoe, excavator, dozer. 

LT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
We are presently accepting applications for a light equipment operator in our Baton Rouge Asphalt Division.  Must have a clean motor vehicle record and must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, post-offer physical, post-offer functional capacity test. Barriere Construction Co, LLC offers an excellent benefit package and competitive salary. Position Description: Duties include, but are not limited to, operating a Rubber-tire Backhoe/Excavator, Base Roller, Small Asphalt Roller, and Powerbroom.  Ability to do basic repairs and maintenance on the equipment such as lubricating, cleaning, and fueling; ability to perform connections between the equipment and its attachments; ability to use hand tools to accomplish these tasks; and perform activities of a laborer when not operating the equipment. PLANT OPERATOR
Position Description –We are now accepting applications and resumes for a Plant Operator to work in our state-of-the-art asphalt plant in Baton Rouge, LA.  Duties include communicating with the Plant Foreman, Superintendent, and Operators; conducting daily startup, shutdown, and maintenance procedures; performing equipment inspections; and following all safety procedures. Physical requirements – The ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions such as cold, heat and humidity.  Able to individually lift and carry up to 50 lbs and pull or push up to 70 lbs. Observe all safety protocol.  Equipment Skills – Forklift, Loader, Man-Lift.  Experience/Skills Required – Candidate should have experience with servicing and maintenance of a high production facility. Mechanical/Electrical/Inventory Control/Scheduled Maintenance experience necessary. Controls experience a plus. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, should have strong mathematical abilities and functional computer knowledge. Prior industrial experience and mechanical/electrical skills are a plus. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

RETAIL SALES PERSON
We are currently looking for a Retail Sales Person to join our Baton Rouge Asphalt Team of talented employees.  Education: Associates Degree preferred in Marketing/Sales favored.  Applicant must possess good computer skills (Excel, Project, Accounting, Data Entry). Job responsibilities: Determine market analysis of sales potential for asphalt and aggregates in the Baton Rouge Area.  Learn and understand contract specifications.  Prepare work orders and data entry, responsible for managing customer accounts and collections.  Work with facility manager to schedule daily sales and create relationships with customers, and be self-motivated and a quick study of products.

Directly responsible for decisions regarding personnel, equipment, problem-resolutions, record-keeping, and overall effectiveness of projects. They make decisions pertaining to production on a daily basis and plan work approximately 1 week in advance.   Foremen handle all aspects of personnel management on site. They work closely with the crew to ensure safety, quality, and timely production. Responsibilities: Ensure safety of crew and public; comply with all safety initiatives, protocols, and procedures, plan, assign, coordinate, and evaluate crews, develop employees, coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment, monitor labor, haul, equipment production, and costing, track production, ensure operators maintain equipment and document usage.   Work Experience: At least 5 years Industrial construction experience. TWIC Card, Basic Plus, OSHA, and Background checks required.  Education/Training – High School Diploma or GED preferred.

SUPERINTENDENT

Summer Internship Program
Barriere accepts resumes and letters of application year round for our Summer Internship Program. The program is open to all college sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Construction Engineering Technology, and Occupational Safety and Health degree programs. Interns typically work from May to August and successful candidates will get hands-on experience working alongside Project Managers and Field Engineers in both office-based and in-the-field work.
