Concrete Paving Division – Luling
Cement Finisher – (1 position open)
Position Description – Duties include but are not limited to preparing area and smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete roads & parking lots. Levels concrete to specified depth & workable consistency, with handheld screed & floats to bring water to surface & produce soft topping. Smooth & shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete. Finishes concrete surfaces, or wets & rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish. Produces rough concrete surface with broom. Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using powder grinder or chisel & hammer, patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound, performs other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements – Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions such as cold, heat, and humidity. The maximum unassisted lift requirement for a Barriere employee is 51 pounds for all physical job descriptions. Must observe all safety protocol. Experience requirements – 1 Year Concrete Experience. Knowledge in raking concrete, vibrating, dumping, straight edge, and come along, form work for curb and flat work.
Heavy Equipment Operator – (1 position open)
Duties include operating a variety of equipment including bulldozers, excavators, front end loaders, scrapers, backhoes, sweepers, or rollers; performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment; performing other duties on the jobsite when not operating equipment; and following all safety protocol. Physical Requirements – Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, individually lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs., push and pull weights up to 70 lbs., and observe all safety protocol. Experience/Skills Required – Must have minimum of 1 yr. experience in the road or construction field, working outdoors in extreme weather, be able to read, understand and write simple sentences, and perform simple mathematical equations. Equipment Requirements – Must have a minimum of 1 yr. experience in operating and maintaining at least three or more pieces of equipment, such as: motor grader, front end loader, backhoe, bobcat, base roller, power broom, or small asphalt roller.

Northshore Asphalt Division – Franklinton
Asphalt Plant Operator – (1 position open)
This position is responsible for indoor control room duties as well as outdoor field duties. Indivdual will be responsible for proper operation of all the equipment connected with plant operations. Individual will recognize and report malfunctioning equipment, taking corrective action as directed. Individual should have excellent organizational and communication skills. Physical Requirements – The ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions, such as cold, heat and humidity. Able to individually lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and pull or push up to 70 lbs. and observe all safety protocol. Summer Internship Program
Barriere accepts resumes and letters of application year round for our Summer Internship Program. The program is open to all college sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Construction Engineering Technology, and Occupational Safety and Health degree programs. Interns typically work from May to August and successful candidates will get hands-on experience working alongside Project Managers and Field Engineers in both office-based and in-the-field work.
