Hot Mix Asphalt Plants

 

With four asphalt plants located throughout the company's service area, Barriere manufactures the hot mix asphalt used on its projects. This added service affords Barriere's clients economical advantages in that Barriere doesn't have to purchase asphalt from a third party. It also allows Barriere to maintain control over the mix designs of the asphalt, providing the company's paving crews with convenient access to hot asphalt and helps to ensure that projects are completed on schedule.

 

 

Recycling Operation

To address the environmental concerns regarding construction waste and conservation of non-replenishable natural resources, Barriere recycles both concrete and asphalt pavement.

The company owns a cold milling machine that removes old asphalt from roadways. This Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) is used in producing hot mix asphalt and as roadway base material. Reusing the RAP eases the strain on our overburdened landfills and provides an economical aggregate for hot mix asphalt.

Barriere is the only area contractor to own a concrete crusher. Concrete pavement from company projects, as well as material from other contractors, are crushed and graded to meet government and agency specifications for roadway base material and aggregate surface course. Barriere uses the crushed concrete for its own projects and sells it to other construction firms and individuals.

By recycling asphalt and concrete, Barriere not only proves itself a partner with the environment, but a value conscious provider of construction materials.

 

 

Subdivision and Site Development

 

Beyond its expertise in asphalt paving, Barriere Construction offers a full range of subdivision and site development services.

From virgin land to paved roadways that are ready for traffic, Barriere has the capability to construct all aspects of a development. The company's crews have the experience and skills required to work in the widely varied soil conditions of Southeast Louisiana. This experience translates into construction methods that make the most of existing conditions and saves time for the developer, producing an excellent development. This is especially important on the Northshore where soil conditions can vary widely within the boundaries of a development.

Clearing, grubbing, subbase, and base preparation--such as lime treatment and cement stabilization--and utility work are done by company crews specially trained in these area. Concrete paving, which includes sidewalks, drives, curbs and gutters, completes the list of Barriere's services. The company's field of employees are well-versed in local and state specifications.
