| BARRIERE SCHOLARSHIP CO-WINNERS GRADUATE | ||
|
The Betty A. Wilson Education and Safety
Scholarship has interesting, intelligent and deserving candidates apply
every year. Usually the judges can narrow the winner down to
one. However, in 1996, there were two candidates of such scholarship
and merit that the judges couldn't decide between the two, and thus
awarded Erica Millette and Sara Mayer as co-winners. The Barriere Scholarship has the unique advantage of being renewed each year as long as the student maintains a 3.0 grade point average and full-time student status. Both Erica and Sara easily maintained the GPA, and both graduated this year from 4-year universities. Erica Millete graduated from Oglethrope University located in Atlanta, Georgia, with a 4.0 GPA and a Bachelor's of Arts in Education and Math. Erica will be staying on in Atlanta and has accepted a math teaching position at a junior high school for the 2000-2001 school year. Sara Mayer graduated from the University of Mississippi located in Oxford, Mississippi, with a 3.3 GPA and a Bachelor's of Science in Journalism. Sara has accepted a position with the Ehrhardt Group as a Junior Account Executive and will reside in New Orleans. Through the Ehrhardt Group, Sara was most recently involved with the promotion and coordination of the D-Day Museum and event that was celebrated in New Orleans on June 6th. Barriere is very proud of Sara and Erica and wishes them lots of success and happiness in their endeavors.
