MISSION POSSIBLE: Better Trained Employees
The asphalt plant and shop management team congratulates the employees who completed the electrical/electronics course held at the Louisiana Technical College.  While Barriere paid the tuition, these individuals volunteered their own time to improve their skills to become better-trained employees.  Their dedication will keep Barriere at the cutting edge of our industry.
The course included 14 classes held one night a week at the Harvey campus.  Two additional classes were held at the Harvey plant to demonstrate troubleshooting strategies on actual plant equipment.  Mock-ups of various plant systems were set up for this training.  The college provided a customized course designed to provide a basic knowledge of the plant electrical/electronic systems.  The course also provided extensive training in the use of electrical testing equipment.  The use of testing equipment is critical in troubleshooting the modern electrical systems used in our plants and equipment.
The employees who successfully completed the training include: Thomas Cox, Ray Duffel, Kevin Ervin, Doug Griffith, Brad Laguaite (Special thanks to Brad, our electrician, who provided help to the other members in class and set up the mock-up equipment), Peter Manceaux, Ronal Maxion, Bobby Mckee, Mike Schafer, and Charles Welsh.
One of Barriere's Core Values is "to encourage and support individual employee growth by providing training and development programs."  If an employee knows of a training opportunity that will improve job performance, they are encouraged to discuss this with their supervisor.
