The program is open to all college sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Construction Engineering Technology, and Occupational Safety and Health degree programs. Interns typically work from May to August and successful candidates will get hands-on experience working alongside Project Managers and Field Engineers in both office-based and in-the-field work.

Lt. Equipment Operator - Northshore Asphalt Division (3 openings)

We are presently accepting applications for a light equipment operator in our North Shore Asphalt Division. Must have a clean motor vehicle record and must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, post-offer physical, post-offer functional capacity test. Barriere Construction Co ,LLC offers an excellent benefit package and competitive salary.

Position Description: Duties include, but are not limited to, operating a rubber tire backhoe/excavator, base roller, small asphalt roller and power broom; ability to do basic repairs and maintenance on the equipment such as lubricating, cleaning, and fueling; ability to perform connections between the equipment and its attachments; ability to use hand tools to accomplish these tasks; and perform activities of a laborer when not operating the equipment.

Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions such as cold, heat, and humidity. The maximum unassisted lift requirement for Barriere employees is 51 pounds for all physical job descriptions. Must observe all safety protocol.

Experience/Skills Required: Must have minimum of 1 year experience in the road or construction field, working outdoors in extreme weather, able to read, understand, and write simple sentences, and perform simple mathematical equations.
