The program is open to all college sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Construction Engineering Technology, and Occupational Safety and Health degree programs. Interns typically work from May to August and successful candidates will get hands-on experience working alongside Project Managers and Field Engineers in both office-based and in-the-field work.

Landman - Northshore Gravel Division (1 opening)

The Landman will report to the Division President and will be responsible for identifying aggregate material sources and negotiating leases, options, royalties, and operating agreements. Key Duties include: • Researching and documenting options, leases, rights-of-way, joint ventures, and other types of mineral rights agreements • Gathering, organizing, and analyzing lease and title documents • Negotiating and preparing lease agreements, record rental receipts, and performing other activities necessary to efficiently manage properties • Preparing and facilitating the execution of specialized lease documents • Reporting regularly on leases, options, prospects, and royalties.

Key Competencies required include: Concern for Safety and Environment, Initiative, Integrity, Teamwork and Communication, and Business Development. Superior decision making & problem solving skills, planning and scheduling experience are also required.

This position requires an individual who is experienced in the exploration and production business and well versed in all types of transactions, including farm-ins and farm-outs, joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, swaps, etc. Associate’s Degree in Land Management or or related field or at least two years of related land experience which demonstrates a knowledge of title curative, right-of-ways, mineral lease documents, options, mineral severance oil and gas contracts, joint ventures and courthouse research. Certified Professional Landman (CPL), Registered Professional Landman (RPL), or Registered Landman (RL) credentials a plus. Duties include operating a variety of equipment including bulldozers, excavators, front end loaders, scrapers, backhoes, sweepers, or rollers; performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment; performing other duties on the jobsite when not operating equipment; and following all safety protocol.

Physical Requirements - Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, individually lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs., push and pull weights up to 70 lbs., and observe all safety protocol.

Experience/Skills Required - Must have minimum of 5 years experience in the road or construction field, working outdoors in extreme weather, be able to read, understand and write simple sentences, and perform simple mathematical equations.

Equipment Requirements - Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in operating and maintaining of asphalt equipment, such as: motor grater, dozer and excavator.

Craftsman - Southshore Construction Division (4 openings)

Position Description - Duties include but are not limited to preparing utility pipe for crew, cutting materials, hauling materials, hand grading, checking string lines, housekeeping at job site, checking safety protocol, laying out job materials according to plan, beginning of day set-up and end of day clean-up, etc.

Physical requirements - Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions, such as cold, heat and humidity. The maximum unassisted lift requirement for Barriere employees is 51 pounds for all physical job descriptions. Must observe all safety protocol.

Equipment Requirements - Able to work with a wheelbarrow, wacker, or any other small piece of equipment used to move concrete and pipe.

Experience/Skills Required - Must have a minimum of 1 yr. experience in the road or construction field, working outdoors in extreme weather conditions, and be able to read and understand simple directions, as well as perform simple mathematical equations.

Position Requirements/Qualfications - We are currently accepting applications for Crane Operators. Must be able to operate Friction and Hydraulic Cranes. Must be able to operate crawlers and mobile cranes. Pile Driving experience a plus. Position includes driving concrete piles, H-piles, pipe piles, and sheet piles, using impact and vibratory hammers. Minimum 5 Years experience.

Welder - Southshore Construction Division - (1 openings)

Job Requirements/Qualifications - We are presently accepting applications for certified or certifiable welders. Carpentry experience or iron working skills a plus. Applicant must be able to pass any structural welding certifications (American Welding Society D 1.1 section 5). Typical welding duties include full penetration welds using 6010 and 7018 rods. Minimum 5 years experience.

Physical requirements – Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions, such as cold, heat and humidity. Must be able to work over water, off the ground and in tight spaces. Must observe all safety protocol.
